What is Kava?

Kava, a small shrub native to the Pacific Islands—primarily Fiji, Tonga, and Hawaii—has been cultivated and

cherished for centuries. Islanders have long used kava in social rituals, religious ceremonies, and for its medicinal properties. The root and stump of the plant are traditionally ground and made into a natural,

non-alcoholic beverage that promotes both psychological and physical relaxation. Known botanically

as *Piper Methysticum*, kava is believed to have over 100 distinct varieties, each contributing to its

rich cultural significance and soothing effects.
